📍CROATIA - TAKE OFF ✈️

Let me start by saying the oh, so basic: "TAKE ME BACK!" 😩

What a beautiful country Croatia is, from their people to views to food! Croatia has endured a LOT in regards to their politic history; This is why you will notice a range of cultural influences including Venetian & Greek influences.

Below is start of my journey from JFK-LGW- SPU.

On this journey, I left the states with my favorite travel buddy and one of my best friends, Tuyen (stalk this beautiful soul on IG: @twanelle). From John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK), we took a night flight on #Norwegian (DY) to Split with a 6-hour layover in London Gatwick Airport (LGW). I know what you're thinking... "6 hours.. ya'll are crazy!" Let me just stress this point right here: YOU WANT TO GIVE YOURSELF A 3-HR MINIUM WHEN CONNECTING (INTERNATIONAL) FLIGHTS.

*Especially, when the flight is not a true connection. When you mix tickets/airlines unless they are code shares and airline partners, give yourself time. The airline is ONLY responsible to reissue/rebook your flight if you have a true connection within their airline alliance. Each airline operates differently; read up on your airline before booking. Please refrain from throwing a fit if you are ignorant to the flight guidelines. Learn more about Code Shares and Standard Flight Guidelines Here. *

Bizack to business.

This was our first time flying on Norwegian and I have no complaints . . . except for the line at JFK. However, they did try to accommodate passengers by expediting the check-in to make our flight.  For a budget airline, there were an adequate amount of movies to keep a night owl like myself awake. The the aircraft we flew on (B787-9 Dreamliner) had just what I needed: an outlet to charge my devices, movies/shows and a lightadjuster by each window seat. The button adjusted the amount of light you preferred to come through the window. You can electronically darken or brighten the screen.  This sound silly but it makes a drastic difference when you're catching your 💤😴 and the sun is blazing through the window as you enter a foreign timezone.

Since I don't sleep much on flights, I like to take in the views... uh duh, this ain't called WindowSeat for nothing! I thought this feature was genius! And boy, the views were amazing. You know competitors have an all or nothing blinds. . . blind your eyes or nothing at all. Okay..I'm getting carried away again. If you wanna know more about what I'm blabbing about, check out Boeing 787 .

Hennyways.. we landed in  Gatwick Airport , a quaint yet organized enough airport to fluidly get off one plane and grab a snack, recharge your batteries (literally physically/mentally) until your next flight. There are tons of ports and seating to snooze before take off. Like most airports the AC is on blast so walk with a scarf/ sweater. I was covered head to toe with my scarf shivering trying to warm up before hopping on my flight to Split.

LGW-  Collage of Queen Elizabeth

Gatwick Airport is an hour & half away from the center of London. For those with more time than we had (yes 6hrs would be cutting it close) to head into the city and see something. I encourage those to make the most of their layovers and to look into what airports offer. Some offer city day tours and that could knock off another item on your bucket list! #killing2birdswith1stone  more like #2destinationswith1ticket  #seewhatididthere

I was really hungry and didn't want to pay for a meal on my return flight so I ordered wings right after this. . . shhh, don't tell anyone - @Jamie Olivier's Diner

Recharge your physical batteries with food at Gatwick. I was surprised (yet not so surprised because it's EU/UK) the food at Gatwick was surprisingly good and healthy. The food court has a little something for everyone and real food at that with nutritious alternatives. I don't usually like airport food because I don't appreciate the con of overpriced garbage but like I said.. I was impressed. I had an some ramen &and gyoza for this leg of the trip at Wagamama (see below). I devoured a burger on my return layover at Jamie Olivier's Diner .

After our layover we come to our first official start of our travels in Croatia as we land in📍SPLIT!

THE LANDING: 📍SPLIT
